How to treat maskne, or mask acne

What is maskne, or mask acne?

Maskne, or mask acne, involves acne breakouts from wearing a face mask. Symptoms may include redness and irritation, along with pimple-like bumps if you have rosacea or dermatitis.

Maskne is pimples located in areas where your mask touches your face. Maskne occurs when sweat, oil, and bacteria are trapped on your skin while wearing a mask, creating the perfect breeding ground for breakouts

Tips to treat maskne:

1. When washing your face, use luke warm water. Pat the skin when drying and avoid rubbing.

2. Use a gentle cleanser free from irritants like our Nourishing Cleansing Milk this will avoid further irritation.

3. Hydrate the skin with light to medium moisturiser and ensure you are using non irritating ingredients. Our Hydrating Night Balm is perfect for your end of day hydration and treatment boost.

4.Have makeup free days and or use a mineral based makeup to help avoid further build up under your mask.

5. Use a detoxifying mask 1-2 times a week to clear and refine pores. Try a gentle, natural formulation like our Pink Clay Mask.

Hope this helps!
