Dermaplaning - what you need to know

Let's talk about dermaplaining.

After trying @bondiblades at home dermaplaning recently and sharing on my socials, I have received many messages in regards to the benefits and many questions about some of the myths around it. So though I would put it all together for you to read over and get clarity.

There are many skin benefits to dermaplaning and since using myself, I didn't realise how much I wanted/ needed to remove some of the 'peach fuzz' on my face for a smoother canvas. Its also great to touch up your brows too.

I won't lie I was hesitant at first about doing it myself but found it incredibly easy to use and got instant results. You would be surprised at the little hairs all over your face and that removing them safely like this along with dead skin  will not only help your skincare absorb better, it will also allow your makeup to sit flawlessly.

I only trust @bondiblades as they provide a superior quality blade that is also eco friendly. CEO of Bondi Blades Ali Clarke has kindly given me permission to share some of their images and information to help put this blog together.

Your how to guide on how to dermaplane at home with @bondiblades

Step 1. Start with a freshly cleansed face and use a headband towel to keep your hair from sticking to your face.

Step 2. Use your Bondi Blade on a 45-degree angle and gently stroke in the direction of the hair. We recommend dermaplaning downwards.

You can choose to dermaplane on either slightly wet skin or dry skin. Soaking wet skin may cause the blade to slip so please handle with care, however a gentle lubricant on the skin may be the thing you need!
Lubricants we recommend: Aloe Vera Gel, a facial oil or even olive oil will do just the trick!

Step 3. After each stroke, wipe the blade on a cotton pad so you can see the results instantly as you go! Warning: This is extremely satisfying as you see how much hair has come off!

Step 4. Gently wash your face to remove any remaining hairs laying on the surface of your skin and then apply a facial serum.

Step 5. Remain Make-up Free for the day to reduce any chance of irritation.

Dermaplaning Myth : My hair will grow back thicker and darker?

Answer: No dermaplaning only removes the peach fuzz and dead skin from the top layer of skin.
